Wetting with Water Or Mineral Spirits
Once a piece of wood is sanded and finished, it tends to darken and take on a different look. In this listing we show a video or picture where we lightly mist the board with water to accentuate the grain and demonstrate how the wood could look once it has been sanded and once a finish has been applied.
Quick Facts When Choosing Stormo Hardwoods
When you partner with our small, family-owned woodworking business, you benefit from our commitment to quality and readiness:
-
Premium Wood Sourcing: You have the flexibility to choose wood that we have personally milled, kiln-dried, and surfaced in our local wood shop, OR select from pieces we have meticulously sourced and hand-selected for exceptional quality and character.
-
Project-Ready Guarantee: Every piece of hardwood lumber we sell is professionally prepared in our shop to be immediately project-ready for your build. The level of preparation is dependent upon the piece you choose. These slabs are all DIY-friendly; however, some boards in our listings will require some epoxy to fill a void and/or a crack. Sanding will be required.
-
Optimal Preparation: To ensure maximum stability and durability, every board is kiln-dried to the ideal moisture content. We then surface or skip plane each board. We leave the raw surface unsanded, giving you full control to apply your preferred finish.
-
Wood Imperfections: While your piece will be project-ready, we are committed to ensuring that the natural character stays intact. Imperfections can display variations in color, grain, knots, holes, scratches, cracks, chain marks, etc. These imperfections are what give wood amazing character and individuality, and can be finished to your taste.
